If you are receiving California unemployment benefits you might be familiar with the EDD phone cert or Tele Cert system for claiming your weeks and to continue your unemployment benefits. The EDD phone cert system lets you certify your unemployment benefits every two weeks on the phone by calling the EDD phone number 1-866-333-4606. This lets you bypass the continued claim form which has caused delays in unemployment benefit payments in the past. You must complete all the questions asked by the EDD phone cert or Telecert system.
If you are nervous about the questions you need to answer on the EDD telecert system don’t worry, they are the same as what you may have answered using the continued claim form on paper. If you use the Tele-Cert system you do not want to also submit the paper form. Avoid duplicate submissions.
Call EDD Phone Cert at the phone number: 1-866-333-4606. call during non-business hours, after 5 p.m. and before 8 a.m., Monday through Friday, Pacific Time, or on Saturday and Sunday.

If you are calling for the first time be prepared to enter your social security number so you can create a new PIN number. If you call the Tele-Cert number again you’ll need the PIN to access the system.
Using the EDD Phone Cert system avoids delays and risks that come with mailing in a paper form. You can submit your form 24hrs per day but you need to wait until the ending date of your benefit claim weeks to certify. You can also verify your information before submitting your certification which is nice. You can also verify or edit your answers before submitting your telecert information. By the way, did you know you can certify for multiple weeks on one phone call vs sending in form after form in the mail?
